It’s getting colder and should be awhile before more outside work can be done. The good news is Roark Brothers Construction (573) 275-4792, has completed this project. The patio will be surrounded by raised beds that cascade down the side of the ramp. Making the house easily accessible to all, doesn’t mean building clumsy structures for wheel chair access. This beautiful design will allow wheel chair access to the raised bed gardens, the patio and the kitchen/ dining area.
The beds and ramp are now complete. A hand rail needs to be installed. Then, the long wait until spring and planting time. These protected raised beds will create a micro climate, allowing me to grow plants that might not otherwise be able to with stand the weather extremes of zone 6.
The patio flower beds will include companion planting combinations of herbs flowers and some few baby vegetables. What I am really looking forward to is stepping out of the kitchen and gathering the first garden greens for a spring salad.
By mid summer, I hope to have a garden as lush as this one I saw on Oklahoma City last September.
